Melanin Medics is a mature, well-governed Charitable Incorporated Organisation dedicated to widening aspirations and promoting diversity within the medical and healthcare sectors. Through a combination of robust operational structures and an empathetic, lived-experience-driven methodology, they provide essential, culturally specific support to Black researchers via training, mentoring, and collaborative research networks.
Initiative Key Achievement
The initiative has successfully supported 412 Black researchers over the last six months through a peer-supported systematic review programme that led to significant academic outputs, including PubMed-indexed publications and competitive clinical fellowships. By leveraging a wide support network and providing culturally competent mentorship, the initiative effectively combats professional isolation and serves as a vital leader in fostering academic progression for Black researchers.
