About
Girls Into Coding is a social enterprise founded in 2018 by Avye Couloute, who started it at just 10 years old. Now 18, Avye leads the organisation alongside her mum Helene, forming a unique Black mother-and-daughter team. GIC delivers free, hands-on technology and engineering workshops for girls aged 10-14 from underrepresented backgrounds, building confidence, skills, and a sense of belonging in STEM. Since 2018, GIC has reached over 20,000 girls through workshops, talks, inspirational content, and outreach.
What’s the most exciting part of being a DiNN One To Watch for you or your organisation?
Being recognised by Do it Now Now means so much to us. DiNN champions Black communities and Black-led organisations, and being seen by that community specifically feels powerful. It validates the work Avye started at 10 years old and gives GIC a platform to inspire more girls to believe that tech and engineering is a space where they belong.
