Mission & Core Focus
The Black Female Academics' Network is a Black-led Initiative with a clear mission to support, platform, and advocate for Black researchers in science and academia. The Initiative is governed by its Founder/Director and supported by an 11-member Black-led committee, with plans to develop a more formal board and sustainable leadership structure. The methodology is built upon lived experience, academic research, and community consultation, with active involvement from beneficiaries through mechanisms like mentoring circles, community spaces, and reverse mentorship.
Initiative Key Achievement
Over the last 12 months, the Black Female Academics' Network's primary achievement has been the strengthening of its operational infrastructure, enabling sustainable, long-term support for Black researchers. The Initiative expanded its Black-led committee from 5 to 11 members, implementing structured recruitment and onboarding processes that deepened its capacity to respond to community needs.
