About

POC in Architecture CIC was established to address the lack of racial diversity within the UK architecture profession, where only around 1% of registered architects identify as Black. This reflects wider systemic barriers that begin in education and continue into practice. Black and Black-mixed architecture students are more likely to drop out before qualifying, often due to limited representation, lack of access to mentors, financial pressures and feelings of isolation. Many do not see themselves reflected in the profession, which can impact confidence, belonging and long-term progression. POC in Architecture exists to bridge this gap by supporting students, amplifying diverse voices and creating accessible pathways into the industry. Our work focuses on improving representation, strengthening support networks and addressing the structural barriers that limit access and opportunity within architecture.
