Head of People and HR (Employee role)

Title: Head of People and HR
Employment Status: 3 days a week
Salary: £35,000 per annum pro-rata to £21,000 at 3 days a week
Location: 
Remote, London, with an office in Tottenham Hale (office opening soon)

Do it Now Now (DINN) is an open innovation organisation committed to the social empowerment to Black people through the provision of access to opportunities for social mobility through entrepreneurship and employment. We bring skilled talent, charities, social entrepreneurs, start-up teams, social innovators, investors and philanthropists together to address social challenges, solve problems and support the development of underserved groups.


With an ambitious growth plan in the coming years, we have recognised the need to build a more appropriate and professional approach around our people. We are seeking a broad HR professional who can operate in both transactional and transformational HR design and delivery. You will be responsible for ensuring appropriate people management processes are in place and in line with current and relevant legislation. Ensuring the smooth running of all recruitment and onboarding activities; and supporting the development of a high-performance team-based culture where all colleagues feel a sense of belonging and can fulfil their potential.

Responsibilities
  • Defining our people goals with regards to satisfaction, leadership opportunities, wellbeing, adequate support and more
  • Overseeing the development, implementation and review of staff handbook, HR policies, in accordance with relevant legislation
  • Ensuring all staff are fully aware of and comply with the organisation’s agreed HR policies and staff procedures
  • Fostering a culture of belonging for all our people.
  • Working with Finance and Operations team to monitor absence and leave as it interacts with payroll as well as concerns relating to such matters
  • Designing and managing all recruitment processes within the organisation
  • Administering all transactional employee administration, such as employment contracts, induction packs, probation periods and formal notices such as redundancy or termination
  • Reviewing, designing and managing colleague reward and benefits processes
  • Reviewing and managing a coaching programme as part of the benefits package for our people 
  • Providing detailed reporting around all aspects of people management to the Board
  • Managing DINN's online HR system and identifying opportunities for enhanced HR online services
  • Implementing, managing and monitoring a Visa Sponsorship programme and an Access to Work programme
  • Embedding performance management processes in line with our policies to our people are well placed to achieve their full potential
  • Developing and implementing a programme of support for managers of people across the organisation in line with our strategic goals and people goals
  • Building a culture of learning within Do it Now Now and ensuring our people have the support to succeed and fulfil their potential
  • Building and implementing engagement and review processes that support all our people to improve our individual and  interpersonal working relationships, collaborative strength and cross team working
  • Reviewing and managing DINN’s employee benefits programme 

Experience
  • Excellent understanding of HR policies and related best practice
  • Excellent development coaching skills for staff
  • Solid track record in recruitment and onboarding of staff
  • Excellent track record supporting people managers to engage and influence their teams effectively
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills with the ability to build mutually beneficial relationships
  • Good understanding of the civil society sector and diversity and inclusion barriers within it
  • Excellent project management skills and experience
  • CIPD Qualified
